As you may have read in our previous tutorial, How to Create a Crowdsource Project, the final step in creating a crowdsourced project with Ackuna is to promote it.
Once your project is uploaded, Ackuna will provide you with a direct link to your project via email so that you can advertise it as you see fit, and encourage others who might be interested in taking part in the translation process to do so!
Marketing and Promotion
While Ackuna provides you with all of the resources you need to easily localize your apps and websites using real human translators for free, spreading the word to encourage more people to take part in your crowdsourcing project is an important (and fun) task only you can do!
While the translators in the system are eager to take part in the translation process, they work on a volunteer basis and there are hundreds of apps on Ackuna at any given time. Therefore, translators may or may not be 100% engaged in completing the translations for your specific project right off the bat. That is why it is advised that you promote your project on social media and anywhere else you think it will increase interest from the public. In doing so, you will bring outside translators or bilingual speakers directly to your individual project, significantly shortening the localization time.
Since you are provided with a personalized link to share that would take viewers solely to your project, the logistics are quite simple. Marketing your app, however, may require some creativity on your part.
Here are some ideas that may help you get started:
Promote your localization project on Twitter, Facebook, and other social media
It goes without saying that social media is by far the best way to easily reach the most people. Twitter and Facebook are two of the most popular social networking tools out there, so it is recommended to use these to let the public know about your project on Ackuna, and provide the link so they can easily access it. The more hype you can generate, the more people will see (and share) your request, and you may find yourself overrun with strangers trying to help out!
Include Ackuna's link to your project in your app's description in the app stores.
Include Ackuna's link in online forums
As a developer, you may be active on various programming/developer forums or websites. This would be a great arena to share what you are trying to accomplish using Ackuna, as there are most likely a large number of developers who want to localize their own apps as well. Also, many of the other developers in the forum probably reside in various different countries, and therefore, speak different native languages. Since that's the case, they may be more than willing to help you out by translating into their native languages.
Include Ackuna's link in any online profile.
There are bilingual speakers everywhere online, not just in translator or developer communities, so it doesn't hurt to include a description of what you are trying to do along with the link in your Messenger profile, Linked-In profile, Instagram profile, etc.
You can always take it down once your project is complete, and you may be surprised how many random people come across your profile and are eager to be a part of the process.
Offer incentives for helping out with translation
Feel free to use Ackuna as you see fit, and go above and beyond what we offer translators. You can set up some kind reward system on your own site, encouraging users to follow the link to the platform to volunteer their translation services. By doing so, you can offer them such things as free downloads of your app once it's translated, in-app bonuses, or even offer to include their names as translators in your app's credits.
Your creativity is the limit
Apps are very popular, and there are a lot of people who would be thrilled to be a part of the creation process even if they are not familiar with Ackuna. The more you promote, the faster your localization will be, and the more you will get out of process!
In the end, it is up to you to increase interest in the translation of your app through promotion and marketing. Creativity is the key. If you can think of any other ways to promote your localization project, feel free to do so!
